The Brighton Vikings have named fast-rising broadcaster Matt Larter as the first broadcast voice in franchise history.

Larter, 32, currently serves as the play-by-play caller for the Bradford Bulls (GMHL) and as the public address voice of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues (U Sports).

"I'm excited to join such an ambitious organization in such a terrific hockey community," said Larter, a College of Sports Media graduate who will anchor all Vikings home broadcasts on league flagship GMHL TV. "There's a lot of skill on the roster, and it should be an energetic start to the year at King Edward Park Arena!"

Larter's first broadcast will be this Friday's home opener, when the Vikings welcome the expansion Orangeville Blitz to the King Eddy; a raucous crowd is expected, with tickets available for $10 at the door and a raffle for a 65' television set to take place.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., with the pre-game show beginning shortly before on GMHL TV.
