VIKINGS SIGN GOALTENDER YAROSLAV GURENKOV

The Brighton Vikings today announced the signing of import goaltender Yaroslav Gurenkov for the team's inaugural 2026-27 season.

Gurenkov, a native of Chelyabinsk, Russia, was one of the top goaltenders in the GMHL last season and previously played for KHL club Lada Togliatti's youth team.

"Yaroslav is an elite netminder and an important signing for our hockey club," said Vikings head coach Dennis Sicard, who coached Gurenkov last season in Durham. "He's athletic and brings a second-to-none compete level — he shows up every day at the rink and puts professional-level work into his craft."

Gurenkov made 25 appearances with the Roadrunners last season, compiling a 13-10 record and posting a .901 save percentage.

The Vikings front office has now turned its attention to next Wednesday's GMHL Draft, with an eye on securing talent from across Ontario for the team's opening night roster.
